What to do in case of problems during chat

The website and chat is not designed to provide medical advice or help in case of an emergency. - Concerns about someone having a seizure during chat
It is the responsibility of users to have a plan on how they manage their seizures and get emergency help if needed. Please note that some people are affected by certain stimuli and if they don't feel well, stepping away from the computer may be indicated. If a user feels a warning or actual seizure symptoms, sign off from the chat and computer and follow your plan on what to do should a seizure occur. If a user does leave the chat because of a seizure, it is helpful if they can check back in to the chat after the seizure and let other users know that they are okay. If a user needs additional help during or after a seizure, they should contact their local support and emergency personnel. Do not rely on online friends or support for medical help. - Concerns about someone's safety during chat
If people feel unsafe for any reason, please encourage the person of concern to call a trusted adult in person, their doctor, or go to the nearest emergency room. There are also Suicide Prevention Hotlines that are equipped to help people who are feeling unsafe. Please note that users of the chat and site, as well as people affiliated with epilepsy.com or Zoomedia are not able to provide professional medical or emotional help to users. Epilepsy.com only has limited information about users and is not necessarily able to reliably contact a user. If you are concerned that a user is in danger, please contact your local police for guidance. They will contact epilepsy.com and the user's internet service provider for more information if needed. - To report concerns about user behavior on the site

If reports of problems are received within that time frame, we will check chat logs to verify concerns and help us address any problems accordingly.
